Information and Rules - Training

Pre-Race Training

Teams or individuals who enter the National Park to practice for the event MUST consider local farmers and landowners. Sections of the route are over land which is not a 'public right of way' and special permission is sought each year to use these areas on race day. The continued success of the event relies upon the cooperation of local farmers, as without their permission the race could not be staged.

Training over sections of the route that are not designated 'public rights of way' is not encouraged. In particular, the following section provides specific instructions for the Upper Breamish Valley area.

Prohibited Area - Upper Breamish Valley

The whole of the Upper Breamish Valley, including the race route between Bloodybush Edge and Coldlaw Cairn is private land.

Any team found training in this area will be disqualified and their entrance fee forfeited. Such teams jeopardise the whole future of the Cheviot 2000 Fell Race.

An agreement has been reached with the farmer that pre-race training may take place along the following route from Bloodybush Edge - Walk north along the fence line to Breamish Head G.R. 902183, then eastwards to meet the fence between Coldlaw Cairn and Comb Fell at G.R. 915185.
