Information and Rules - Dress and Equipment

Dress All competitors must wear and carry suitable clothing. Shorts and T-shirts may be worn provided waterproof and windproof clothing is carried. NB: Denim jeans are not considered to be suitable trousers. Footwear Only the following footwear will be accepted as being suitable:
  • Walking Boots with a recognised sole
  • Army DMS boots or
  • Lightweight fell running boots or
  • Fell running shoes.
No training shoes. Those wearing training shoes will not be allowed to start. Equipment Each team member must carry the following equipment:-
  • Torch (in working order)
  • Whistle
  • Gloves or mitts
  • Warm hat or Balaclava
  • Waterproof jacket and overtrousers
  • Warm, long sleeved woollen jumper or other thermal top
  • Water container (at least 0.5 ltr capacity - full at race start)
  • Survival Bag - Not a space blanket
  • First Aid Kit
  • Emergency Rations
  • Compass and OS Map Sheets 74 & 80 or equivalent (One set per team)
All forms of satellite navigation system are prohibited! All clothing and equipment must be carried in a suitable rucksack with shoulder straps. 'Bum Bags' are not allowed. A full equipment list is provided below for download.
